Joey Logaon picked off the poll for the final race this year at Michigan as he put down yet another track racord this year in the gen 6 car.
Jeff Gordon stated that has a great racecar today.
When the green flag dropped it was go time for Kurt Busch that got the race lead. Clint Bowyer though at the end of the lap took a wild spin through the grass by himself to bring out the caution. On the restart Joey Logano got the better restart and the race lead, but at lap 8 it was caution time again as David Reutimann crashes the wall. The third short green flag run occurs and Austin Dillion and J.J. Yeley get together at lap 13.
We finally got in a good green flag run with Joey Logano leading laps. At lap 33 Kurt Busch was able to get the race lead with the help of some lapped traffic. Five laps go by and the first of the green flag pit stop occur. Kurt Busch stopped at lap 43 putting Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the race lead. Dale came down on the next lap to put Jimmie Johnson in the race lead. When he finally pitted Marcos Ambrose had the race lead for one lap and then Trevor Bayne had the race lead for one lap as Denny Hamlin took over the race lead. After the pit stops were over Dale Earnhardt Jr. was in the race lead.
Around lap 57 Jimmie Johnson wound up with some car problems and then went behind the wall for repairs.
"The engine broke there," said Jimmie Johnson.
The caution finally came out again for Ricky Stenhouse Jr. that smacked the wall on lap 71. The leaders pitted and Dale Earnhardt Jr. won the race off pit road. Denny Hamlin though stayed out to lead the race. Denny was able to keep the race lead as the race restarted. Kurt Busch though got hot and took over the race lead again at lap 78. At lap 92 Denny Hamlin had to make his pit stop. Thirteen laps later Mark Martin pits as the caution comes out for debris.
The leaders pitted and Greg Biffle with his two tire stop won the race off pit road. Greg kept the race lead as the green flags were quickly going down. The green flag racing came to an end on lap 135 for Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his blown tire. This time after the leaders pit Brad Keselowski and his two tire pit stop won the race off pit road.
The race restarted and Joey Logano easily got the lead of the race. This was not a real long green flag and at lap 149 Bobby Labonte spins out in the grass for the next caution. This caution only brought down cars mainly in the back down pit road for service.
The race restarted with Joey Logano getting the race lead as some three wide racing occurred in the back for position. It was a short green flag run and Kyle Busch wound up crashing on lap 158. The cars up front pit while a few cars including Brad Keselowksi decide to stay out. Brad easily kept the race lead when the green flag dropped as more three wide racing occurred for position.
With 35 laps left David Gilliland and his car was smoking big time, but did not bring out the caution lap. Wi8th 27 laps left the caution reappeared as Kyle Busch took another spin. This caution did bring down Brad Keselowski for service. Most cars though stay out.
As the race restarted Joey Logano took it three wide to get second place as Mark Martin gets to lead his first green flag laps of the day. His gas lasted until four laps left and then Joey Logano got the race lead. He had enough fuel and won the race.
"This is unbelievable," said Joey Logano. "We needed this for our chase hopes."
Mark Martin stated that we needed a caution to make it.
"Just mistimed the last restart," said Kevin Harvick.
"Had to pit on the last yellow," said Brad Keselowksi.
